| Short description: | The course aims to present students with information concerning veterinary history, its development and achievements from Antiquity until today as well as instilling passion and pride for their future profession. Students also obtain essential information on professional ethics as well as rights and obligations of veterinary surgeon in contemporary professional and social life |
| Full description: | Veterinary medicine in mithology. Veterinary medicine symbols. History of medicine and veterinary in Ancient Times, Medieval, Renaissance and Modern Times. History of slaughtery and slaughter animals. The development of modern veterinary education. Crucial discoveries and inventions of veterinary medicine in 19th and 20th century. Scientific and professional organizations in Poland, veterinary medical journals. Deontology of veterinary medicine. |

| Learning outcomes: | Knowledge: - identify and describe the crucial persons and events during the medicine development process - understand the close relation between veterinary and human medicine history - understand the role of ethic and veterinary deontology in veterinary practices - know the sources of medical terminology Skills: - truly interpret the veterinarian responsibility in animal and owner context, moreover in social and environmental context - act according to valid standards and ethical rules - perform the understanding for continuous knowledge acquiring and studying Social competences: - perform responsibility for decisions due to humans and animals - obey ethical rules - perform tolerance for human behavior and attitude due to its different social and cultural context - critically judge his own and others activity, improve the accessible solutions and know his own limits |
